To compare the new ski skin technology with traditional manufacturing methods, Quo conducted a competitive analysis, researched labels and standards, and made a life-cycle analysis. Qualitative interviews with relevant customers and retailers also ensured that their needs were taken into account.
The life-cycle analysis was based on the well-known greenhouse gas balance (CO2 equivalents) according to IPCC2021. On the other hand, the environmental impact points were calculated using the more comprehensive method of ecological scarcity (MöK 2021 Switzerland).
The life-cycle analysis provided the basis for a well-founded statement on the environmental impact of the new ski skin.
The results were positive across the board: thanks to the absence of natural fibres and a more streamlined production process, the new «Vreneli» skin reduces its environmental footprint by 58% compared to conventional ski skins, or 3.3 kg CO2-eq per pair of ski skins.
This is not only a further reason for customers to buy the lighter, smaller and high quality "Vreneli", but also a confirmation for Colltex to have invested in a future-oriented technology.
Thanks to its new patented technology and reduced environmental impact, «Vreneli» has won Colltex the ISPO Award 2023. Congratulations and thanks to the Colltex-team for the great collaboration.
